Sephiria Artifacts Guide: Effects, Tags, and Build Synergies

Learn how Sephiria Artifacts work, how they interact with Tablets and combo tags, and how to choose them for weapon and build plans.

Artifacts are the main effect items in Sephiria. They shape a run by adding damage, defense, movement, economy, companion, magic, or utility effects to the inventory board. The Steam store describes Artifacts as items that can be arranged and empowered with Tablets, so Artifact choices are both a collection decision and a placement decision.

This page explains the system vocabulary and the decisions that transfer across builds. For item-level names, combo tables, and acquisition notes, continue to the Sephiria Relics guide, which uses the community term "relics" for many Artifact entries.

How Sephiria Artifacts Work

An Artifact is useful for more than its printed effect. Read it through four questions:

  1. What stat, damage type, or action does it improve?
  2. Does it need a weapon, tag, placement, or empty-cell condition?
  3. Can a Tablet strengthen it from an adjacent cell?
  4. Does it support the plan you are already building, or does it force a late pivot?

Artifacts are offered during the run through level-up choices, map nodes, events, merchants, and other reward surfaces. Exact pools can change with patches, so treat the current in-game tooltip and the latest Steam update as the authority for a specific number.

Artifact Families and Build Roles

RoleWhat to look forTypical build connection
DamageA direct multiplier, attribute bonus, or attack triggerWeapon and elemental builds
DefenseHP, defense, evasion, guard, or recoveryDefense and reliable first clears
MagicSpellbook, cooldown, MP, or grimoire supportStaff and Grimoire builds
CompanionSummon damage, companion uptime, or revival supportCompanion builds
EconomyLeaves, experience, shop value, or rerollsLong runs and progression setup
PlacementAdjacency, edges, empty cells, or directional rulesTablet-centered boards

Do not evaluate an Artifact in isolation when its effect depends on a tag or neighboring cell. A modest effect that turns on every room can be more useful than a stronger effect that conflicts with the board you can actually maintain.

Artifact Tags and Combos

The existing Relics guide records combo tags such as Precision, Glacier, Ember, Dark Cloud, Windsong, Academy, Guardian, Planet, Colleague, and Shadow. Use tags as a direction for future picks rather than as a reason to keep weak items forever.

For example, Academy supports magic-book plans, Colleague supports companions, and Glacier wants reliable ice application. The best time to commit is after the first few offers reveal a coherent effect family. Before that point, prioritize survival, a usable weapon rhythm, and enough open space to rearrange the board.

Artifact Placement with Tablets

Artifacts occupy inventory cells, while Tablets improve adjacent Artifacts. Leave rotation room when the board is still developing. A full board of individually strong items can underperform if it leaves no space for the Tablet direction you need later.

When a new Artifact appears:

  • Check whether it needs a specific neighbor or empty cell.
  • Preserve the strongest existing Tablet-to-Artifact relationship.
  • Avoid moving the entire board for a small temporary gain.
  • Record the effect in the current weapon or build plan before taking another random tag.

Read the Sephiria Tablets guide for the placement layer, then return here when you need to compare effect families.

Artifact Selection Checklist

Before locking in a choice, confirm the run's weapon, main damage plan, defensive fallback, and available inventory space. Keep one or two flexible cells until the next major reward. If an Artifact's exact drop location or numeric value is not verified, use the live tooltip instead of treating an old table as current.
