Sephiria Combo Effects Guide: Tags, Thresholds, and Build Planning
Learn how Sephiria Combo Effects shape Artifact builds, how to read combo thresholds, and when to commit to one or more effect families.
Combo Effects are the shared direction behind many Sephiria Artifact builds. Artifacts with compatible tags can contribute to a combo threshold, while the resulting effect improves a stat, damage type, action, or build identity.
How Combo Effects Work
Treat a combo as a build direction, not a reason to keep every item with the same label:
- Identify the effect your weapon actually needs.
- Check which Artifacts contribute to that combo.
- Read the next threshold before spending flexible inventory space.
- Keep a defensive or utility fallback if the combo has not activated yet.
- Stop collecting the tag when another item gives a larger immediate benefit.
The current game tooltip is the authority for exact threshold numbers and values. These can change with balance patches, so old tables and screenshots should be treated as dated references.
Common Build Directions
The existing Artifact and build vocabulary commonly groups effects around directions such as:
| Direction | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Companion | Summon damage, companion durability, or revival support |
| Academy / Grimoire | Spellbook damage, Haste, and MP planning |
| Guardian / Defense | Defense, guard, shield, and safer first clears |
| Planet | Passive planet damage and attack-speed support |
| Glacier / Ember / Lightning | Elemental damage and matching status effects |
| Precision | Critical chance, critical damage, and extra-hit effects |
This is a planning map, not a universal tier list. A lower-threshold effect that activates early can be better than a theoretically stronger combo that never appears in the current run.
One Combo or Several?
Commit to one main combo when the weapon and early rewards clearly support it. Add a second direction only when:
- The second effect uses items you already wanted.
- It does not break the main Tablet adjacency.
- The threshold is close enough to reach before the next boss.
- The hybrid plan has a clear defensive fallback.
Do not split the board across three unrelated tags just because each item looks strong alone.
Combo Effects and Inventory Placement
Combo planning and grid planning are connected but not identical. An Artifact can contribute to a combo while still being badly placed for Tablets. Use the Inventory Grid guide to reserve cells and the Tablets guide to protect adjacency.
Patch-Safe Build Notes
Before copying a combo list from an older guide:
- Check the current patch number.
- Read the current Artifact tooltip.
- Confirm whether the combo still has the same threshold.
- Test the effect in a safe room before rebuilding the whole board.
The Sephiria Patch Notes tracks changes that can affect weapon behavior, Artifacts, Tablets, and Hard Mode.
