Sephiria Inventory Grid Guide: Artifact Footprints and Tablet Adjacency
Master the Sephiria inventory grid with Artifact footprints, Tablet adjacency, open-cell planning, and safe mid-run rebuild rules.
The Sephiria inventory grid is where the run's Artifacts and Tablets become a working build. A strong item can be weaker than a smaller one if it blocks the Tablet adjacency, combo threshold, or open cell that the rest of the board needs.
The Four Questions for Every Item
Before placing an Artifact or Tablet, ask:
- How many cells does it occupy, and can it rotate or shift later?
- Which neighboring cells does its effect need?
- Does it improve the current weapon and combo plan?
- What space must remain open for the next reward?
The official Steam description frames Artifacts and Tablets as an arrangement system, so placement is part of the build rather than a cosmetic inventory step.
A Stable Grid Layout
Use a simple layout priority while the run is still developing:
| Area | Suggested role |
|---|---|
| Core cells | Main weapon support and the most reliable damage or defense Artifact |
| Adjacent cells | Tablets or Artifacts that directly strengthen the core |
| Flexible cells | New rewards, Side Bag swaps, and late build pivots |
| Edge cells | Conditional items whose effect does not need to stay central |
This is a planning model, not a fixed best-in-slot board. The current tooltip and footprint are more reliable than a screenshot from an older patch.
Tablet Adjacency Rules
Tablets improve eligible neighboring Artifacts according to their current direction or adjacency wording. When a Tablet appears:
- Check the affected direction before moving anything.
- Preserve the strongest active relationship first.
- Avoid filling every flexible cell until the next reward is known.
- Recheck the board after a weapon upgrade changes the run's priority.

When to Rebuild the Board
Rebuild only when the expected gain is larger than the cost of breaking the current board:
- Move to a safe room or transition.
- Identify the active combo and Tablet relationships.
- Remove the least important item first.
- Place the new item and check all neighboring effects.
- Confirm the active stats before starting the next combat room.
The Side Bag guide is useful when you want to reserve an item without activating it immediately.
Grid Mistakes That Cost Runs
- Filling every cell before the build direction is clear.
- Ignoring the footprint of a new Artifact.
- Reading only the item name and skipping its placement condition.
- Breaking a working adjacency for a small unverified number.
- Reorganizing while enemies are active.
- Treating a board screenshot as universal after a patch changes values or items.
Practice Method
At the start of a run, build one small relationship at a time. Keep the weapon core, activate one Tablet adjacency, and leave at least one flexible area. Once the board is stable, expand into the Sephiria Combo Effects guide instead of collecting unrelated tags.
