The Side Bag is Sephiria's storage space for spare run items. It helps you keep an item for a later room or boss without forcing it into the active inventory board immediately.
How to Unlock the Side Bag
The official 1.0 update notes state that the Side Bag is unlocked through Destiny Inscription.
- Return to the village after a run.
- Open the Destiny Inscription menu.
- Find the Side Bag unlock node and read its current prerequisite.
- Activate the node, then open a new exploration to confirm the Side Bag UI.
The exact location or cost of a node can change with updates. Use the current in-game menu rather than an Early Access screenshot if the path looks different.
Items in the Side Bag Are Inactive
An item placed in the Side Bag is stored, but it does not contribute to the active run while it remains there. Do not put a core Artifact, Tablet, weapon effect, or other build dependency into the Side Bag and expect its effect to continue.

When to Use the Side Bag
The Side Bag is most useful in three situations:
- Before a boss: Store a situational item until the board is safe to reorganize.
- During a build pivot: Keep a promising Artifact while the current combo is still carrying the run.
- In co-op: Reserve an item without immediately disturbing the active board while teammates are moving between rooms.
Do not use it as an excuse to collect every item. A reserve is valuable only when you know what future problem it solves.
Safe Swap Routine
- Finish the current room and move to a safe transition.
- Identify the item that will leave the active board.
- Check whether removing it breaks a Tablet adjacency or combo threshold.
- Move the replacement from the Side Bag into the main inventory.
- Recheck the active stats and item effects before entering the next combat room.

- Assuming Side Bag items remain active.
