Sephiria Training Grounds: Practice and Freeze Troubleshooting
Use this Sephiria Training Grounds guide to practice controls, test builds safely, and troubleshoot the Training Grounds freeze reported around version 1.0.24.
The Sephiria Training Grounds are best used to test one variable at a time: movement, attack recovery, dodge timing, a weapon special, or an inventory interaction. Practice the smallest repeatable action before testing a full build.
A useful practice routine
- Enter with the weapon or preset you want to test.
- Practice movement without spending every resource.
- Test one attack cycle and its recovery window.
- Test dodge, guard, or parry against a predictable pattern.
- Place one Artifact and confirm the board effect.
- Leave and record the patch version before comparing results.
Training Grounds freeze
The 1.0.24 update notes listed a Training Grounds freeze as a known issue and stated that it was resolved in 1.0.25. If the freeze still occurs in your client:
- restart the game and confirm the current installed version;
- verify the game files through Steam;
- test without changing several settings at once;
- record whether the freeze happens on entry, after spawning, or during a menu action;
- check the latest official announcements before treating an old report as current.
Do not claim that a prior freeze report still reproduces without testing the current build.
What to test in order
Start with an input that has a clear pass or fail result. Test movement first, then one normal attack, then the special attack and its recovery. After that, test a dodge or guard against the same predictable pattern several times. Only when the input feels consistent should you test a full Artifact or Tablet interaction. This order makes it easier to tell whether a failure came from the control, the weapon, or the item layout.
Write down the result after each test. Include the weapon, difficulty, controller or keyboard, and the current version. If an effect activates only after a threshold, note the threshold shown by the current tooltip rather than relying on memory. A small test log is especially useful when a patch changes timing or when a multiplayer session displays a different state from a solo run.
Testing a build without wasting a run
Use Training Grounds to validate the mechanical part of a build: range, animation recovery, movement space, and whether an effect appears when the expected action occurs. Use a normal run to validate the strategic part: whether the reward pool supplies the items, whether the board has enough cells, whether the Tablet relationship survives movement, and whether the build can handle a boss.
Do not treat a training result as proof of a tier ranking. A build can perform well in a controlled room and still fail because it needs a rare reward or has no defensive fallback. Pair the test with the Combo Effects guide and the Hard Mode guide before using it for progression.
Reporting a current issue
When reporting a freeze or missing interaction, state the steps that lead to it, whether the cursor still moves, whether audio continues, and whether the issue survives a restart. Include the version and whether Steam file verification changed the result. Avoid combining unrelated fixes in one report. A precise reproduction note helps separate a resolved 1.0.24 report from a new issue in a later client.
Training a weapon route
Choose one ordinary target pattern and repeat the same sequence several times. Measure whether the weapon can start and finish an attack without forcing an unsafe recovery. Repeat while moving, because a build that only works while stationary may fail in a real room. Test the special attack separately from the normal attack; a high-damage special with a long animation can still be a poor answer when the enemy warning arrives quickly.
For ranged weapons, test the distance at which the projectile or cast remains reliable and keep a plan for enemies that enter close range. For a Grimoire or companion route, test when the effect is available and how much room is needed to reposition. For defense, practice the input against one predictable warning before testing a boss.
What not to conclude from Training Grounds
Training Grounds cannot prove that a reward is available in every run, that a combo will reach its threshold, or that a weapon is universally best. It also cannot replace a multiplayer test when the issue concerns host and guest progression. Treat the area as a controlled lab: useful for isolating one mechanic, insufficient for making a broad ranking.
Training versus a real run
Training Grounds can confirm input timing and a tooltip interaction, but a normal run is still needed to test reward availability, board space, Tablet adjacency, and multiplayer progression. Use the Controls and Combat guide for input habits and the Weapons guide for branch comparisons.
