Sephiria Temporary HP Guide: Multiplayer Revive Healing Change

Understand Sephiria temporary HP after the 1.0.26 multiplayer revive change, when extra HP is kept, and when it is lost.

Sephiria temporary HP became easier to understand after the 1.0.26 update. The official note says that in multiplayer, HP gained above your maximum HP through another player's revive will no longer disappear when you heal. The same note also says all temporary HP is now lost whenever your maximum HP changes.

That makes temporary HP a co-op survival resource, not a permanent stat increase. It can help a revived player stabilize, but you should not build a whole plan around keeping it forever.

Quick Answer

After 1.0.26, temporary HP from another player's revive should remain when you heal. It should disappear when your maximum HP changes. If your team sees extra HP vanish after a max-HP change, that matches the new rule. If it disappears immediately after normal healing, check whether your game is updated and whether another max-HP modifier changed at the same time.

This page is focused on the revive HP rule. For general co-op setup, use the Sephiria Multiplayer guide. For team build planning, use Sephiria Co-Op Builds.

What Counts as Temporary HP

The update describes HP gained above your maximum HP through another player's revive. In simple terms, the revived player can end up with HP that sits above their normal cap. That extra layer is temporary. It is useful because it gives the player a buffer after a dangerous mistake, but it is not the same as increasing maximum HP.

The rule does not claim that every source of extra HP behaves this way. It specifically talks about multiplayer revive HP. If a costume, Artifact, Hard Mode element, or future patch creates a different HP modifier, check the live tooltip and newest notes before assuming it follows the same rule.

What Changed in 1.0.26

Before this change, players could reasonably report that temporary HP disappeared when healing. After the patch, healing alone should not remove HP gained above the maximum through another player's revive.

The important exception is maximum HP. If your max HP changes, the temporary HP is lost. That means some recovery decisions are now better, while some stat-changing decisions require more caution.

Practical Co-Op Rule

Use this rule during multiplayer:

  1. If a teammate revives you and you have temporary HP, you can heal without intentionally throwing away that buffer.
  2. Before taking a reward that changes maximum HP, assume the temporary HP will disappear.
  3. If the team is close to a boss, decide whether the max-HP change is worth losing the temporary buffer.
  4. If a player is unstable after revive, prioritize safe movement and recovery before chasing damage.

This makes the revive window less punishing. A revived player does not need to avoid healing just to preserve temporary HP. The team can stabilize first, then decide whether a max-HP change is worth it.

When Temporary HP Is Most Valuable

Temporary HP is most valuable when the revived player has to re-enter danger immediately. That can happen in boss rooms, combat zones, or late-chapter multiplayer where the team cannot simply pause the run. It is also valuable when the player has a fragile build that needs a few seconds to restart its engine.

It is less valuable when the next decision will change maximum HP anyway. If the team is about to take a max-HP reward, penalty, or modifier, treat the temporary HP as expendable.

Build Implications

Temporary HP makes defensive co-op planning more forgiving, but it does not replace proper builds. A team still needs at least one reliable survival layer: defense, evasion, recovery, crowd control, range, or companion pressure. If both players run fragile damage setups, temporary HP may delay a wipe without solving the room.

For Hard Mode, be extra careful. If a Hard Mode rule or reward changes maximum HP, the temporary buffer can disappear at a bad moment. Check max-HP changes before entering the next high-risk fight.

Troubleshooting

Temporary HP disappeared after healing

Confirm your client is on the current Steam build. Then check whether another action changed maximum HP at the same time. A max-HP change is the confirmed reason temporary HP should be lost under the 1.0.26 rule.

Temporary HP disappeared after a reward

Read the reward text. If it changed maximum HP, the disappearance may be expected. Do not treat this as a revive bug until you rule out max-HP changes.

One player sees different HP behavior

Make sure every player has updated Sephiria. Co-op behavior can be confusing if one player is interpreting an old rule from before 1.0.26.

Temporary HP did not save the run

Temporary HP is still only a buffer. It does not prevent poor positioning, missed dodges, or entering a boss without recovery. Use it to reset the team, not to ignore mechanics.
